Kassidy Barnett (she/her/hers)
LMSW, Co-Owner and Founder
Hi! I’m Kassidy. Long before it was ever a thought in my mind to enter the social work profession, I developed an interest and passion for understanding eating disorders. I had many experiences which built up this passion and feel incredibly fortunate that these experiences not only led me to become a therapist, but that I’ve been able to focus my work in the eating disorder community. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my bachelor's degree in Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. I then earned my master's degree in Social Work at Grand Valley State University. Much of my continuing education is focused on eating disorders and I have attended National Eating Disorder professional conferences as well as on-site trainings at eating disorder treatment centers to gain education on effective evidence-based treatment modalities for eating disorders. While my main role has been and continues to be as an outpatient therapist, I also have experience being part of treatment teams at the intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization levels of care, leading groups in eating disorder programming. For a few years, I co-facilitated a longstanding community support group for those struggling with an eating disorder.
I have been a therapist for nine years and have experience working with children, teens, and adults across the lifespan. I have helped individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, and major life transitions. It is a privilege and honor to learn someone’s story and gain insight into the experiences that have led someone to seek therapy. Eating disorders are a very serious mental illness that can make you feel as though you’ve lost sight of your life as you once knew it. I will work with you or your loved one to help you regain a life worth living. As humans, we are easily influenced by the culture we are immersed in, and while this can be beautiful and wonderful, it can also come with risks. I believe that by allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and open to looking deeper into our experiences and influences, we can cultivate a more meaningful relationship with food and our bodies. I am an LGBTQIA+ ally, so whether you are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community or not, please know that you are safe to show up as your authentic self.
I know it takes a tremendous amount of bravery and courage to take this step for yourself or to be searching for help for a loved one. I will partner with you to help you find hope, strength and resiliency to overcome the challenges you are facing.
Outside of my role as a therapist, I am also a wife and a mother. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and being involved in my neighborhood and community.

Jenna VanVeldhuisen
MS, RD, Founder
Hello, I’m so glad you made it here! My name is Jenna and I’m a registered dietitian with experience in eating disorders/disordered eating/mental health. Helping individuals realign their relationship with food and their body is something I feel passionate about as there is so much “noise” about what is healthy in our society today. I love educating my clients on what healthy truly is in the midst of the diet culture claims and helping them find this balance in their own lives. I believe in an individualized approach to treatment as every person brings a unique background, perspective, and goals for their health journey. I also believe everyone deserves food freedom and to live without food rules and diet culture influence. In session, I provide clients with nutrition education in conjunction with a structured eating plan, unwavering support, and practical ways to release the grasp of the eating disorder/disordered eating patterns that are keeping them stuck.
I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from Calvin College and then worked to complete a combined bachelors/master’s degree in nutrition at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. I interned and worked at an ED clinic in upstate New York before returning to Michigan to work in an ED private practice and a local psychiatric hospital. In my free time, I can be found enjoying time with family, trying out yummy local eats (especially ice cream), and exploring the National Parks/traveling. I am deeply rooted in my Christian faith and happy to incorporate that into body image work with clients who also share that value.
Congrats on taking this new step to repair your broken relationship with food/your body; you deserve the health and healing I hope you find here!

My goal as a therapist is to walk with you as you find food freedom and finally make peace with body and soul. Katrina Terkeurst
RD
Hello! My name is Katrina Terkeurst. I decided to become a registered dietitian because I knew I wanted to help individuals repair their relationship with food. When I was quite young, I recognized the harm dieting does, and I knew I wanted to help people learn how to nourish their bodies while abandoning the mindset that our bodies must change in order to fit cultural ideals of beauty and health. I honor the fact that healthy bodies come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and I believe the diversity of human bodies is part of what makes us unique and beautiful!
I am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, I utilize a non-diet, and Health at Every Size® (HAES®) approach. In my work with individuals, I provide individualized nutrition education, guidance for incorporating structure and consistency into your eating, gentle accountability, and compassionate support as you work to shift your relationship with food and your body.
I earned my bachelor of science in dietetics with a specialization in health promotion from Michigan State University (go green!). Throughout my career as a registered dietitian, I have had the honor of working alongside teens and adults experiencing a wide variety of disorder eating issues, including chronic dieting, restriction, binging, purging, over-exercising, and ARFID. I have experience providing nutrition care in a wide variety of eating disorder treatment settings including outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and inpatient levels of care.
I am married to my high school sweetheart and have two amazing daughters and a crazy mini-bernedoodle. As a family we enjoy camping, skiing, and traveling, especially visiting national parks. In my free time I can be found gardening, reading in my hammock, going on walks in nature, and watching reruns of Gilmore Girls with my daughters.

She began working for Comprehensive Treatment for Eating Disorders in 2015 & followed them through their merge with Sanford Behavioral Health until the end of 2022. She now passionately works full-time for West Michigan Eating Disorder Specialists (WMEDS).

She is passionate about remaining current on eating disorder research and uses a combination of the following in her practice:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (CBT-AR)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E)
Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT)

Katie Boerman (she/her/hers)
LLMSW, CAADC
Hello, my name is Katie Boerman! I received both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Grand Valley in 2016 and 2018 respectively. After graduating with my Master's, I worked with adults with substance use disorders for four years in community-based and outpatient settings. I also have experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
I am incredibly passionate about working with eating disorder clients and co-occurring disorders. I utilize a HAES® (Health at Every Size®) approach. I believe that your body is the least interesting thing about you and that all bodies, regardless of weight and size deserve dignity and respect. In addition to being a HAES informed clinician, I would also describe myself as a fat positive clinician. While all bodies are worthy of dignity and respect, I recognize that those in larger bodies can experience an extra layer of difficulty with recovery due to the anti-fat bias that permeates our culture.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephew, baking, playing video games, listening to Podcasts, reading, going for walks, and watching stand-up comedy.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Kuyper College, and I completed my master’s degree in Counseling from Spring Arbor University. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, trauma, life transitions, and relational difficulties.

"I believe everybody deserves to take control of their “inner critic”, change the dialogue, and go live the life they’ve been given; it’s time to stop thinking about food. I believe each individual has been created differently and my treatment approach will always reflect that. I believe you should be in the “driver’s seat” of your own recovery."
"I enjoy playing nerdy board games with my husband, fantasizing about having a lavender farm with silke chickens, and playing pickleball."
